Surrogate Motherhood

When I first heard these two words "Surrogate Motherhood", the thing that came up to my mind is "adoption",a sort of a mother who is adopting a child that is not  biologically related to her. But, when my classmates thoroughly  explained the concept of this bioethical issue, my perception was completely wrong. Primarily, Surrogate motherhood is an arrangement in which a woman carries and delivers a child for another couple or person. So,it briefly implies that surrogate mother is a woman who is arranged and chosen by the incapable of child bearing couple to carry and deliver their child until misconception. They are the one who will provide the needs of the surrogate mother as well also paying all her hospital fees. Evidently, we can't deny the fact that it really did exist here in the Philippines, not just here in the country but circulated worldwide. Since there are couples who are infertile, they will just do such terrible things for them to be happy and satisfied as a family
Surrogacy is a very controversial subject when talking about its morality. Some religious organizations forbid their members from participating in surrogacy, no matter how desperate they are to have a child. Whatever the reason that couples might consider surrogacy, they must carefully weigh the pros and cons before proceeding. There are different factors that people who are considering surrogacy have to go through, from the time to decide whether they would go forward with it, to choosing the surrogate mother, the procedures involved, the fees required and the overall time frame. Each of these factors has its own pros and cons.    But, this surrogacy has also pros and cons.
Philippines  is considered as the only Asian country  who has a large number of Christian devotees. So, surrogacy completely violates the teachings and dogma of our religion. The bible once says that only  married couple can do the sacred thing and must not be done outside the marriage. It is a sin and must be avoided. Let should not tolerate those people who are practicing this. Although it gives life to the infertile couple, but this act completely displeases our audience of onr. Let must be a moral citizen here in our country.

Teenage Vices

Nowadays, teenagers are now engaging into different vices. These are smoking, drinking alcohol, taking prohibited drugs and involving the so called premarital sex. As what I've observed now, teenagers are no longer into schooling. Evidently, you can mostly find them at the bar and net cafe playing online games.
I am now in my fourth year in college life and I've never experienced these terrible things. And I'm proud to say that it is in the proper guidance accorded by my parents. However, we can't deny the fact that teenage life is the most crucial years we are facing on since lot of pressures, crisis and personal constraints may occur. But, what is the most beautiful thing of being a teenager is that ,when you are able to meet new people and befriend them.
Teenagers are easily influenced from the people that they surround with. Hence, its very normal for a teenager to find peers who they think they  belong. However, it seems that teenagers now are losing their path and became delinquents. They are now into various forms of vices which can ruined their distinctive lives. Whose faults are to be blame with? Why did they turn out like this?

Teenage Vices
Parents indeed play a primordial role in the development of their children. Hence, they are the one who will give them personal advice and teach them the morals in the society. Moreover, they are  the important person who will show them comfort and guide them during in their dilemmas. But, let us face the current situation now. Parents are no longer guiding their children and tend to neglect their obligations. I must say that since parents are busy working earning for an income, their children on the hand are also busy doing prohibited things which are not suited and appropriate for their ages.
Parents should practice balancing their family and work. Try to look over your children if they are in school or not. Have at least a little conversation between you and your children how they are doing in school. Try also to observe them and ask who are their friends .
Parent's negligence can caused the existence of Teenage Vices. They should do something to divert their attention into stuffs that are worth living for.

Environmental Care

Undeniably speaking, Philippines now is much prone to natural calamities such as flash floods, earthquakes, landslide and soil denudation which definitely rooted to massive destruction of properties and caused large number of casualties compared in the previous eras. Almost every year, multiple reports made indicated that Philippines is again experiencing these tragic calamities. Hence, Philippines is the most affected territories when the mother nature is taking its revenge from the malpractice exploitation of the natural resources.
Environmental Care
Our country's environmental condition has now being deteriorated due to the excessive abuse by the people. Even air and water now is being polluted due to improper ways of garbage disposal. Throwing of garbage anywhere is being practiced now by the people not even bearing the consequence if they keep on doing it and much worst, they will take it as a habit. On the other hand, I must say that  Illegal logging here in our country is very rampant  and I even see it with my two naked eyes big trucks carrying large pile of logs. Do these people have a moral conscience or they are just blinded from the lust of money ? When will Filipinos learn caring and preserving our environment?
On the eve of December 16, 2011, Cagayan de Oro experienced a tragic typhoon signal number 2 which caught the eyes of the local and national televiewers as well also people from the other countries. I have never expected that the water level immediately rising up  from the knees, then up to the hips and surprisingly, it even reached at the top of the houses. Our place was not that affected compared to our neighbors from the other barangay and I'm thankful of that but at the same time I pitied those who were affected. I was  sleeping soundly at that time when the heavy rains poured. I was shocked when I woke up that many of my fellow kagay-anons were found dead and some were still missing. I didn't know what to say but just to sympathize those affected families.
On the following day amidst of the tragedy, I was forced to go to school since my NSTP students were waiting for me to have our Christmas Party. When we were already at the highway, I saw people who were crying, walking barefooted and the worst part, I saw dead bodies lying on the ground. I was speechless that time and it seems my heart was falling apart and about to cry.
When I already arrived at the school, the ambiance was very solemn because of  the tragedy. Some were in group talking about the flashflood and some chose to be alone and thinking the safety of their loved ones.
This tragedy indeed gave us a hint that we should care and protect our environment. If we don't want to happen this again, we should start preserving our mother nature. We should throw our garbage from the thrash cans. We should not cut trees instead, we should plant more trees. We should do the 3R(Reuse, Reduce and Recycle). We should cooperate and help one another to clean every canals and drainage for it serve as a passageway of the running water.
However, this tragedy marks a difference of what Kagay- anons are. Even amidst of this traumatic event, Kagay-anons were still showing a sense of  resiliency and continue moving forward. Let's practice "Environmental Care".

On Becoming a Teacher

"The mediocre teacher tells.  The good teacher explains.  The superior teacher demonstrates.  The great teacher inspires.  "

-William Arthur Ward-

I was very inspired by this famous quote mentioned above. It made me realized once more that teachers should not settle themselves as teachers  who just take teaching as a  profession only, but, they should be the teachers who have the heart to listen ,empathize and  inspire their pupils.

Teaching is a noble profession. It even cannot guarantee a lucrative career. But, what makes you richer is that, the moment you are happy and contented seeing the beautiful faces and smiles of your pupils. And for me, that is the best and happiest thing  a teacher could ever had.

Teachers are considered as the  most important person in any civilization because they are the ones who molded and shaped every individuals.Without them, there will no engineers, doctors, nurses, accountants and etc. However, we will not be an educated and values-laden person if not through our teachers. We must love them for they are the one who serves as our second parent. Although we are not biologically related to them, teachers are the ones who gives us comfort and care. With much pride and honor, I'm very  happy and delighted that I chose to take up one of the most difficult professions in the field.

Teaching Demonstration in one of my subjects
There was a certain instance in my life wherein teaching was being deprived by others. I don't know the reason why, but, it's very prevailing nowadays that this profession is being looked down by other professions.  One of my classmate said during on my first year "  Liz ,why did you take up education? Why not nursing? engineering? accountancy? What's the purpose of your intelligence if you will choose education? That's just an easy course for you and perhaps, you will not get richer anyway." Those words she uttered really did ring a bell and I answered her back " I chose education because that is my passion. Anyhow, I'm not that after of money. What more important thing is that ,I'm happy of my choice and teaching for me is the best thing I can do to serve my countrymen "Then , my classmate suddenly shut her mouth . End of the story.

Few months from now, I will now be reaping the sow of my success. I will now be walking the isle with overflowed emotions of happiness and satisfaction. At last! after four years of pre-service education, I will now be a graduate of Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education. Although I've been through thick and thin academe pressures, at least, I tried my best to manage and that made me came to this far. The most important thing is, I proved to myself and to others that I can finished and succeed from my desired profession which is to become a teacher.

I am very much ready and eager to embark new life , new journey, new challenges, new opportunities and new experiences to face ON BECOMING A TEACHER.
